VMWare Tools Cannot Be Actualized in Ubuntu

Hi Everyone! I hope someone can guide me on this.

I'm having a bit of trouble with the actualization of VMWare Tools in Ubuntu 16.4.

First, all the new machines aggregated in VSphere had a number of version of the

VMware tools and said "Administered by the host" and the old ones had a compilation number

as well but had the label "Current". Anyway, I did all the processes to actualize

the version of VMWare tools and seems like it finished properly but, when I checked

the version it didn't change.

  • The version of VSphere is 6.0.0 Compilation 5318172
  • The version I'm trying to actualize to is 10.2.5. (I downloaded this version in a TAR file at the page my.vmware.com)
  • The current version of VMWare Tools installed in the Ubuntu host is 10.0.7.52125 (build-3227872)

PD. I did all the procedure that the document "VMWare Tools User Guide" recommend, but apparently isn't working.

There is a repositoty for ubuntu

sudo apt-get install open-vm-tools

After that sudo apt dist-upgrade

That works for me.
