We last upgraded VMFS when vSphere 6.0 was installed.
Since then we have upgraded to 6.5 and not changed the VMFS version.
I think we are on 6.5u2 to which upgrading to 6.7 is not supported??
Does 6.7 have a different VMFS version than 6.5??
If I upgrade the VMFS version to whatever is current for 6.5, will I have to upgrade VMFS again for 6.7??
Thank you, Tom
Hi!
You can not upgrade VMFS-5 to VMFS-6 directly.
It's only possible to create a new VMFS-6 datastore and migrate VMs to it.
In vsphere 6.7 the change is that VMFS-6 is a default version when you create a new datastore, however you can choose this. In vsphere 6.5 default VMFS version is VMFS5.
The VMFS version in 6.7 is VMFS-6, the same as in 6.5.
tlyczko - When you create a VMFS6 datastore, you'll be all set. vCSA 6.7 does NOT have an updated version of VMFS.
