Hey all,
I have a VM that doesn't want to auto-start with the host. There are four other VMs on the same host that autostart without issue, and the only difference I can find between them all is that the problem VM has SATA passthrough configured for a 5TB drive.
Host: Dell PowerEdge R310
- 4 CPUs x Intel Xeon CPU X3430 @ 2.40 GHz
- 32GB RAM
ESXi Version: 6.5.0 (Build 4564106)
- Image profile: Dell-ESXi-6.5.0-4564106-A00 (Dell)
- Free vSphere 6 Hypervisor license
Overall VM Environment: 5 ESXi 6.5 Linux VMs
- Each running Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS (x64)
- No HA
Problem VM Configuration:
- 4 vCPUs
- 16GB RAM
- 450GB vmdk
- 4.55TB passthrough vmdk
I've set the problem VM to the lowest priority autostart in the hopes that maybe it's timing related, but the issue remains. I've also noticed that after ESXi shuts down and starts up again, the Recent Tasks window shows the problem VM starting first, then a Refresh Network System, then the other VMs all start up...
If I start the problem VM manually, it fires up with no issues.
