VM relocate issue

Hi All,

I am facing issue relocating virtual machine from one cluster to the other, relocation involves storage vmotion too. The VM is 1.5TB big and composed of 14 thin and tick provisioned disks.  Relocating process fails at 36%.  There is no space issue, as I dedicated a 4TB datastore as target storage.

vCenter version is 6.0 build 9291058 and ESXi servers are version 6.0 build 9919195

Any idea?

Thanks

Fred

What's the error message? Are you trying a cold migration? Does the machine has any snapshots?

Is the vmotion network and dvporgroups configured the same across the both clusters?

Did you try removing VM from inventory, move to target datastore and then adding back to inventory in new cluster?

Please mark this as "Correct" or " Helpfull" if this answers your query. Best regards, Michal

How do you move from one datastore cluster to the other if the VM is no more present in the inventory?

Do you mean exporting the VM and then importing?

Removing from inventory, doesn't remove VM from datastore. So go to datastore, there this VM is, right click on it and Move.

But exporting to OVA/OVF and importing is also an option.
