VM Server 2019 essential installing failed

Hey guys,

need some help with my esxi. Cant get installed a Windows Server 2019 essentials.

Host version: ESXi-6.5.0-4564106-standard (VMware, Inc.)

Host: Supermicro

Modell: X10DRi (self assembled)

This Error pops up after clicking on "install now"

pastedImage_0.png

translated: a media driver required by the computer is missing. This can be a DvD, USB or hard disk driver.

So I think this happends cause of HDDs. Here are the SCSI - Adapter informations.

We have and raid installed. MegaRAID SAS 9361-4i.

So I'm not sure how I can install a HDD driver behind the Raidsystem in this case.

Tried serveral things.

Try to install a 2019 standard - same result.

Try to change guest system to several others - same result

Try to create a OVF Windows 2019 template - wont start

VMWare compatibility Guide says that ESXi 6.0 and above is working with Server2019.

Overseen anything?

Can anyone help me with this annoying issue.. 😕

Thanks!!

Hey, hope you are doing fine
You are using LSI logic SAS controller, can you change it to VMware Paravirtual?

Warm regards

Hey,

This issue was very common in the past when using Paravirtual SCSI adapters and the drivers were not in the CD at the installation time but as you are using LSI Logic SAS you should not face this issue. However you can try to change the adapter to Paravirtual SCSI just to try.

Also i faced this issue actually quite recently and it was because the ISO was corrupted so most of the files from inside the iSO where not working so i just downloaded it again.

If that is not the issue then you could give it a try following the next procedure to upload the driver: https://4sysops.com/archives/windows-server-2016-vm-with-a-vmware-paravirtual-scsi-controller/

Hey
thanks for youe help.

Download the ISO File 3 Times now. (2x essentials; 1x standard) and with all of them I have the same prob.

The Paravirtual SCSI dont change that thing.

Tried to create a new ISO File with the driverpackage for SATA(Mainboard) from Supermicro.

But still have the same Error Smiley Sad

Is there a way to upload the driver (.inf) Files to the datastore directly and go for them with the "browse button" ?

Cause in the ISO I cant see the inf Files seperatly.

Thanks!!

Whats the size if your ISO? I have often seen corrupted downloads which cuts at 2 or 3GB. Handling such file sizes with a browser are not that easy when youre behind a proxy or other security devices.

Please check the md5 or sha1sum of your ISO.

Since you have uploaded to a datastore and it is working now I will assume you were uploading the .ISO from a client device.
In the past i've seen this kind of issues with slow connections between client and vCenter (VPN, Multi region networks, etc)
Maybe the host was not able to read data as fast as requested.

did you see slow times for the iso to boot?

Good Morning Gonzalez!

I downloaded the ISO Files (3times) from the Client as well with ie.

For sure the connection is not the best in general even if internet connection is ok:

Download75 Mbit/s
Upload19 Mbit/s
Ping

9,5 ms

For every click on the server you have to wait 1 to 5 secs.
