VLAN trunk from Virtual host to Virtual Switch?

ESX 5.5

I have a virtual host which has an interface with 5 VLANS tagged on it.

I want to plug this virtual NIC into a VSWITCH that has these 5 VLANS on it.

I can't seem o get it to work and not sure if it is even technically supported?

No physical switch is being used.

Any Ideas?

I'm having trouble following what you're describing. You have a vSS with five different VM port groups all with different VLAN IDs? And you want to connect a VM to all five port groups simultaneously? Can you clarify, please?

What you are looking for is called Virtual Guest Tagging (VGT), and can be done by setting the port group's VLAN-ID to 4095.

Lets clarify.

The VM is a virtual firewall that is running a copy of the Production firewall config.

On the Firewall Interface E0/10 has tagged VLANS.

For testing we want a

Virtual Firewall with interface E/10, connected to Virtual Switch on a Port Group with Tag [4095] and also on the V-Switch  4 separate Port Groups on with VLAN Tags for the other networks to which virtual machines will connect.

Despite trying 4095 it does not seem to work.

OK...

Sorted... Smiley Happy

Enable Promiscuous mode "ACCEPT" on the vswitch Trunk.
