VCenter Question

Hello,

I have a question regarding vCenter and vMotion.

I have 2 esxi [esxi1,esxi2] hosts on production site 6.7.0 and one VCSA 6.7.0.12000 that is residing on esxi2. Both hosts are in cluster mode and vSphere HA is enabled. I need to do some work to the iSCSI adapter through VCSA  thus i need to put the esxi's to maintenance mode.

If i will do this

Put esxi1 to maintenance mode (all vm's are already powered off)

Do the changes to iSCSI adapter

Exit esxi1 from maintenance mode

Move VCSA from esxi2 using vmotion (migrate only compute resource since they use shared storage). This step is feasible or not?

Put esxi2 to maintenance mode

Do the changes to iSCSI adapter of esxi2

Exit esxi2 from maintenance mode

And at the end i will move again vcsa to esxi2 (compute host only)

Please advice

Thank you

Steps seems to good.  VCSA does not have impact on this and communication between VCSA & ESXi wont be interrupted.

Thank you both for your answers!

We have VMware Essentials Plus, vMotion is included. The only thing that i have in mind is this...

If VCSA is what controls vMotion how this will not be affected during live migration? And does anyone knows what it will happen to the vm if something goes wrong?

Thank you Smiley Happy

During vMotion you don't have any downtime, maybe you will have only one ping loss.
