For several years now, we've been using VCSA's built-in backup to backup our VCs daily to a host via SCP. This worked great up until we applied VC 7 Update 2 to our three vCenters. Now, daily backups wont work.
Backups fail unless they are done manually one-at-a-time with SSH just freshly enabled on the host. In vCenter, the host shows this error:
- Remote access for ESXi local user account '<redacted>' has been locked for 900 seconds after 78 failed login attempts.
This is new with VC 7 U2 (upgraded from 7 U1d). The password is definitely not wrong, and this worked great for years with previous versions of VCSA. I tried moving the backup destination to another one of our hosts, and it worked for a single backup. However, now that destination doesn't work either, and the new destination host is locking out the account.
Anyone else having this issue? It definitely feels like a bug with 7 U2 as nothing else changed in our environment, and this previously worked perfectly for years.
