Uses the Tape drives in ESXi 7.0U3 without Virtual machine

Hi, How to use the Tape libraries or autoloaders in ESXi 7.0U3 without a Virtual machine.

Can we take a backup of data into Tape libraries without a Virtual machine?

Hello.
I recommend you to install Veeam Backup & Replication on a VM with windows server 2012 or 2016. and configure on the ESXi the access to the tape library.

Veeam Backup & Replication offers a Free license (Edition Comunity) fully functional up to 10 devices.

Attached document on how to make the connection between the tape and ESXi, although it is old can serve as a guide.

If you need help for the connection, do not hesitate to contact me.

I have one HPE Smart array E208e-p sr gen10 controller and the Tape drive is connected to that controller and created a Windows Server 2016 Virtual Machine.

I am not getting any option to add Tape Drive into Windows Virtual Machine.
