Upgrading ESXi 6.0 (Build 3562874)

Can I update to the latest release 6.7?

What are my options for updating? Im not currently on-site. Can I update via an update tool (I have remote access to other workstations on-site). I see mention of an update manager, but I cant find it.

The answer is: It depends.

It's basically possible to do a direct upgrade from ESXi 6.0 to ESXi 6.7. However, there are some things you need to check prior to upgrading,  in order to avoid running into issues.

Some of these things are:

  • is the host managed by vCenter Server?
-> In this case you need to upgrade vCenter Server first.
  • are other products involved (e.g. backup, ...)?
-> In this case make sure these products support vSphere 6.7
  • does ESXi 6.7 support the hardware?
  • does the hardware require a vendor customized installation image?

First check if your Esxi 6.0 build is at U3 or upper level.

Check Vmware compatibility matric for upgrade below.

Once your ESXi 6.0 is ready to upgrade check below URL for remote upgrade.
