Hello all,
Can you confirm or not that is possible without problem ?
I have only one ESXi 5.5 with one VCSA 6.5 installed on the same ESXi (Essentials licence)
I want to upgrade my ESXi 5.5 to 6.5 via Update Manager of the VCSA.
There is not problem ? as the VCSA will upgrade the Esxi that runnig on it...
Fyi, my ESXi run on a USB Key, may be there is a better mettod to do the upgrade.
Thanks a lot in advance for your help,
VUM can do that but not if its running on the same ESXi host - VUM needs to put the ESXi host into maintenance mode (and reboot) and that is not possible if VMs are running on that host.
You can upload the ESXi ZIP bundle to a datastore and use esxcli software vib update. Or boot from ESXi ISO and do an upgrade install.
