Unable to make vSwitch changes

Hi there

I am having some weird issues.
Got a brand new cluster and first started noticing issues when I tried to move vmkernel from vSS to vDS.
However, moving VM to a portgroup with same vlan as vmk worked fine.
I removed the vDS and started from scratch only to see more weird behaviour.
Although I could add hosts to vDS I could not add uplinks.

I then tried to create a simple vSS on each host (without adapter assigned) and that failed too.
Could not make changes to existing vSwitch either.

Error is a specified parameter is not correct:

I tried via vCenter and host UI, both fail.

Managed to create a vSwitch via esxcli but could not delete it via UI.

This is really strange. It is not a permission issue as it works on other hosts in vcenter just fine.

Scratching my head with this one. Have logged SR but any thoughts would be appreciated

Is this a nested or bare metal environment?

Have you checked the logs? (Vmkernel/vmkwarning)

Which versión are you using?

Aré your drivers and firmware up to date?

-Bare Metal
-Checked logs nothing stands out
-Latest build of ESXi 6.517097218. vCenter is latest too 33200
-Appears to be

I can do it all by CLI and nothing by UI. Obviously I want it to work by UI or at least have an explanation 🙂

Are you using an admin accoutn?
Do you have any pending tasks?

Last but not least:
Have you tried a reboot?, that might do the trick.
