I'm trying to add an iSCSI datastore to our VMWare environment. It has added fine to 3 out of the 4 hosts however after adding the Storage Adapter in the vSphere Client and saying Yes to the rescan an error appears straight away saying
Call "HostStorageSystem.RescanHba" for object "storageSystem-22" on vCenter Server "ATG-vCenter.Autotech.co.uk" failed.
An unknown error has occurred.
If you say no to the suggested scan and do a manual rescan no error occurs but the host still does not discover the Storage Adapter, I've tried adding the IP for the datastore in the dynamic discovery and also the static but they both fail to discover the store
This host has other iSCSI datastores attached to it but this new one just won't add.
The ESXi host is version 5.5.0
Try host reboot
The message says that there was an error with rescan operation.
So try to restart management agents on the affcted host and then do rescan again.
Or connect to host using vsphere client directly and try to perform rescan from there.
Restart host itself
Host has been rebooted. Exact same error message still appears
Can you attach vmkernel and hostd log from affected host so we can check them and assist with futher steps.
Seems that hostd log is broken, I can't unpack it.
From vmkernel log I see that you already have iSCSI initiator vmhba36 and I also see a lot of errors before reboot like this

Can you describe a bit more - what are you trying to configure?
How many paths and devices are attached to the host at the moment?
