Unable to add Vmkernal Adapters to my Distributed Port

Vsphere 6.7 ESXI 6.7

I have a Datacenter and a Cluster defined

I created my First DSwitch and Port Groups today.   New to this part

When I try to add VMkernals the Add Host display is empty.

If I right click on the DSwitch to Add Hosts   or right click on the DPortGroup

The Hosts list is empty.

I have the same on two vcenters I am running

Both vcenters have multiple hosts     Vcenter 1 has 8 Hosts and Vcenter 2 has 3 hosts.

All I did was go to my DataCenter right click on Distributed Switch   then Select  New Distribution Switch

Am I missing a Step?

Thank you

Tom

That is your issue. Your ESXis are version 6.5 and your VDS is version 6.6.0 which is supported only for ESXi 6.7 onwards.

If this is an empty VDS, delete it and create a version 6.5 one and you will be able to add the hosts.

Have you added uplink (vmnic) to dvswitch? If not you have to add one uplink and then you are able to add hosts to dvswitch and vmk..

Nawals.

Yes I believe that the uplinks are there  When I created the dswitch I changed the defaults of 4 Nic to 2

Then it automatically find them and assigns them

Anything else I can look for?

Yes I know how to add the hosts to the dswitch and dports   that documents just shows that

A documents on how to setup the dswitch or video is what I used to build the DSWITCH

But many were 6.5 examples.

I AM 6.7 the views are slightly different

Since I am new to DSWITCH I have to look harder for when the article is for 6.5 or video is for 6.5

Hey insearchof,

If you click on "Incompatble Host" what does it say? Also which version of DVS do you have if you go to the summary tab of the DVS?

Take a look at your previous screenshots. When you select to Add Host and is empty, on the top right you have the Incompatible Host option.

Also please share with us the ESXi and vCenter Server version with the exact build.

3 Hosts on this vcenter   are all the same level      VMware ESXi, 6.5.0, 16576891

The vcenter for the three hosts is

The incompatiable hosts display all three hosts which happen to be 6.5

Excellent

That was it

Recreated the Dswitch using 6.5 and later  and now can add the 6.5 hosts.

Thank you for pointing me in the right direct.

My other vcenter is 6.7 and all 6.7 esxi hosts will not be an issue over there that is my production vcenter doing this in my test vcenter first.

Thanks again
