Trying to run Dell OpenManage and getting an error in syslog.log....

I have a Dell r720 with ESXi 5.5 and I'm trying to get OpenManage setup to monitor the health of the server.   I've installed the OpenManage 8.4 vib and everything appears to be fine, however OpenManage Essentials cannot talk to the server.

When I run the Troubleshooting Tool and try the WSMAN test, I get:

Using TLS 1.0 for SSL/TLS handshake.

TLS 1.0 Handshake successful.

Connected. Could not collect WSMAN profile data.

When I look at the /var/log/syslog.log file, I get these errors every time I try running the above test:

Found the problem.

Turns out this server is running ESXi 5.1, not 5.5.   I installed the 5.5 version of the VIB, which installed with no complaints.

Once I uninstalled the 5.5 version of the 8.4 OpenManage VIB and installed the correct version for ESXi 5.1, everything worked.

Have you tried 8.3?

I have not.  Is there a known issue with 8.4?   I've seen reports of other people using is successfully with 5.5.

Thanks,

Brad

Not to my knowledge, but I know 8.3 works because I've installed it on 5.5.
