Storage vMotion Server with Shared .vmdk

running vsphere 6.5 with 2 hosts for a remote office location. I have 2 VM guest servers sharing a .vmdk and i want to vMotion to a new datastore that both hosts can access. Can I live SVM the servers or do I need to detach the shared disk? this is a new one for me as I wasn't expecting to find the shared .vmdk.

Hello jimbee,

Whether you are using Multi-writer or bus-sharing to achieve shared disks, these are not supported to be live SvMotioned:

You can likely see this alerted if you start the migration wizard and it *should* show an alert for compatibility before clicking finish - even if it doesn't though, I wouldn't do this live, likely you won't need to detach anything just shut down all VMs using the disks and SvMotion them cold.
