Hello.
I have problem during storage vmotion inside SDRS cluster.
Im using:
vSphere 6.5 U2
Cluster SDRS with 5 LUNs
vCloud Director 9.5
Several VMs have GREY button for migration... and i can't use this option to manually migration to another LUN.
During entering datastore to maintenance mode i have issue description:
"storage drs cannot relocate the disk as it is disabled for the current state of vm"
I checked "VM overrides" in SDRS cluster configuration but there are different VM (which dont have this problem) :
I used google but for now and found only workaround...
1. Stop VM
2. Unregister from vCenter
3. Register again
4. Migration is possible ![]()
but i would like understand what is wrong...without workaround... because yesterday i had that same situation with another LUN.

Does any of this applies to you Storage DRS is Disabled on a Virtual Disk ?
Hi Seba,
From what I see in the article below, the problem is caused by the fact that the machines are incorrectly registered in the vCenterer inventory, and the workaround you used is a total solution to this problem.
Migrate option is grayed out on a powered-off virtual machine (2044369)
Hi
I think your KB this is good direction but in my case looks like is working another KB VMware Knowledge Base where we have one additional solution.... I can start a manual backup.
I Performed this for 2VMs and looks like this resolved issue. After successfully backup, i can migrate VM to another datastore without problems.
Thanks ![]()
