Some basic questions on ESXi

Hi everyone,

I just started learning VM ware, I have some basics questions:

1) Can we do  Vmotion without V center server? Let say we have two ESXi , is it possible to do Vmotion between ESXi without using V center server?

2) Multipath iSCSI: Let say we have ESXI with two Vmk ports : Vm1K 1.1.1.1, Vm2k: 1.1.1.2,  ESXI is using iSCI target 1.1.1.10 , does ESXi establish two TCP connection to target for I/O operations? do ESxi Vm kernet ports used for iSCSI and target need to be in the same subnet?

Thanks and have a good night!!

For vMotion a existing vCenter is a requirement. So without a vCenter you cant perform a vMotion. Its vCenter which "orchestrate" and validate the vMotion process.

About iSCSI. It all depends on the type of Storage. Please see VMware Knowledge Base
