Snapshot Consolidation failed No free space available

HI all,

I have same issue as OP from this post: Snapshot Consolidation Issues - No Space Available

So, it is an ESXi 6.0 (no vCenter, No shared storage, free version) running only one virtual machine with 1 TB datastore, and now with 0KB of free space. I was trying to make free space by deleting the snapshot from the snapshot manager and after I was trying to run a snapshot consolidation, the process fails (no disk space available), I delete some ISO files and I run the consolidation again and failed again. Now I add new iSCSI storage (Synology 218+) and I'm in the process of moving files from old (1TB local disk) to iSCSI over a datastore browser option 'move file to another location accessible to vCentar).

any idea what is my next step?

Thanks

There's not a lot which can be said here other than to free up more space. It really comes down to that.

... and I'm in the process of moving files ...

That's may not be the best idea. Rather than using the datastore browser, you should use command line tools to do this.

To find out how to proceed, please run

ls -elisa > filelist.txt

from the host's command line to list all the files in the VM's folder.

Then download the filelist.txt, the VM's .vmx, and its .vmsd file, compress/zip these 3 files, and attach the resulting .zip archive to a reply post.
