Hello,

Since VSAN is the only datastore, how do we meet the need for svmotion when we change vm name or hostname?

Since the information such as folder, VM, etc. in the datastore does not change, if the VM is closed in case of a problem, if we have to register it again, it will register with the old name via the datastore. This would be an undesirable situation.

Instead how can we do this without modifying the .vmx files one by one. We can detect these VMs but how can we automate the replacement?

unfortunately this isn't possible, I have raised a feature request in the past about this, will raise it again and point them to this thread.
