Setting hostname on vCenter VM in isolated enclave

Good day,

I've deployed a vCenter 7.0.3h VM in an isolated enclave without NTP and DNS server access. The hostname of the system is the IP address.

It is possible to set the vCenter hostname pre or post deployment to an FQDN or hostname e.g., (server1.domain.com or server1) without it needing to have an external DNS server record?

We wish to use local host files on that network to manage domain name resolution.

thanks!

Marcus

Hi,

There is a way to install vCenter with IP address instead of hostname or FQDN, but I think that there is no way to install vCenter without DNS and hostname. The hostname should be resolved by DNS.

Also, you can run DNS server on small virtual machine.
