Resource Pools and reservations

Is there a best practice around resource pools and individual reservations?  For example, vms are in a resource pool but still have individual cpu and memory reservations. I just discovered a customer case where they were doing this and I want to advice against it but with some reference material.

Well Resource Pools and Reservations are DRS things, so you need to check DRS Best practices for example.
