Retiring a VM and would like to know the best procedure for removing the RDM disks from the esxi hosts.
Once you have the RDM Lun list, you can directly detach the devices from ESXi host. ESXi host generally dont do any read write on physical RDM luns.
So basically shutdown the guest OS of the vm, delete the vm, then go to each esxi and remove the RDM disks?
Yes,
1. Shutdown the VM
2. Identify the RDM LUN details from VM settings.
3. Once you have the RDM details ,delete the VM
4. Detach the LUNs from ESXi storage devices tab.
