Hi, I'm writing to ask for support about a problem I'm experiencing using vSphere 6.5.
The problem is related to RDM hard disk size view on single VM.
In the "Storage Devices --> Configure" (on esx host) there are list of datastore and RDM with right size.
In Settings of the single VM there are some RDM disks with wrong (different) size.
This problem has happened after increasing RDM disk size:
- Datastore view right size
- OS of VM view right size
- Setting of HD VM doesn't view right size
Is it a bug? or there are any workarounds or best practices to solve this problem?
Thank you.
Best Regards
The KB is referring to version 5.5, but may still apply to version 6.5: VMware Knowledge Base
Thanks for solution and reply.
It works.
regards.
Actually depends on whether this is an RDM in physical or virtual mode.
RDM's in physical mode you can just increase the LUN and run a rescan on the host as well as in the guest OS. However, remember that the new LUN size will not match the displayed size of the RDM anymore and - in case you want to convert/migrate the RDM to a virtual disk - you will first need to recreate the RDM mapping files, because the size information in the header file is used in this case!
