RDM compatibility mode Physical to virtual

Hi All,

Looking for your valid suggestions,

want to modify the RDM (Physical) compatibility mode from physical to virtual in 2 VMs configured with MSCluster services, where the VM's can be migrated (vMotion) if the hosts down.

Take the Vm's down to modify Physical to Virtual but the option is grayed out.

Could you please suggest me with any solution here.

You need to remove physical and delete RDM pointer and then add virtual. This KB can be helpful:

Thank you for your inputs, will check for the pointer and let you know. We are using vCenter / Host 6.5 versions.

Hi Amir,

thanks for the article, which helped me in modifying the compatibility, after modifying also, can not migrate the Vm's in between hosts in cluster. VM's configured with shared LUNs for MS-cluster services.

Please provide your suggestions.

The steps are this:

Remove RDM
Re add the RDM but with virtual compatibility.

If you have HA enabled and a host fails the vm will be restarted on a healthy host.

Hope that works

Yes did the same, to convert from Physical to virtual, still the VM is not migrating (vMotion), below is the error.

HA is enabled for the VM.

Okay,
So, in case of a failure your VMs will restart in another host.

CAn you share how are you controllers configured?
