Quiescing failed after P2V. VMtool has to be disabled

Hi

I have p2v 2 physical servers successfully.

After installing vmtools, the backup will failed using arserve.

I realize vmtools is causing the problem as when I disable the vmtool service, all backup including using window backup will be completed successfully.

Using vpshere client, quiescing work when I disable vmtool.

I would like to know anybody has manged to ressolve this?

Thanks.

Depending on the version of Windows, VMware tools, and other factors, something I've seen cause this problem on multiple occasions is the presence of stale VSS writers. ArcServ probably has a VSS writer installed, and possibly there are others. You can check with vssadmin list writers and vssadmin list providers to see what the system has. Check the System event log stream for other errors.

Hi

I have upgraded to vmtool 10.2 and it still give me quiescing error.

I downgrade to vmtool 10.0 and it works. However arcserve backup warn that vmtool 10.0 will not be able to do bare metal restore etc etc.
