Quick question...

Hi!

When we copy a VM to another server and we try to start it the first time, vSphere asks us if we moved or copied that VM.

Is there any way to make vSphere ask that again if for some reason we made the wrong choice?

Hi,

The UUID is automatically generated when a VM is turned on for the first time or is moved.

The UUID is generated on the physical host identifier and also indicates the path of the VM configuration file (VMX).

Within this configuration file the UUID value is stored in two points:

• uuid.bios

• uuid.location (hash based on the current path of the VM)

Completely remove the VM and copy it again. It seems to me the best solution.

Hi

I'd suggest you pick "I moved it" to preserve the VM's UUID and MAC address.

Diego,

Thanks for replying. But I'm not asking which one I should choose...

I need to make that question appear again.

There is no other possibility to reply, because Vsphere has already registered the VM based on your first response.

So there is no solution.
