Question on dataloss - RDM-Physical with data to RDM-Virtual mapping.

I have to migrate a physical file server cluster to VMware virtual environment. There is no requirement of a cluster once virtualized.

The physical servers has got all its disks including boot on a compellent iSCSI storage. This iSCI storage is also attached to an esxi cluster. I am just wondering whether I would be able to p2v the passive node and do a a Raw Device Mapping (RDM) virtual of the LUNs to the virtualized node and then move the resources over from the cluster.

Would there be a data loss when I map the LUNs as RDM-Virtual to a VM while it is already  mapped to the physical server?

I could do the p2v of the whole node which is active, but we have around 6TB data, and this will take place over 1gbps link opposed to the iSCSI which is 10Gbps.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your input, The LUN is already attached to the physical Microsoft Cluster, If I attach these LUNs to the VMs as RDM-Virtual will I loose data on the datastore?
