Question on Licensing Servers of Different ESXI Version

Hi,

I understand that a Vpshere Essentials Kit supports up to 3 physical servers, however what if my servers are of different ESXI version?

I have one running 7.0, and another 6.5 due to older hardware.

Do I need to purchase separate licenses, or will one license cover both servers? Would the key work for both versions concurrently?

Thanks.

You can run both ESX host in vCenter with diffrent keys. One for vSphere 6 and one for vSphere 7. When you have an active support agreement, you can upgrade your license keys to vSphere 7 and add the new key to vCenter.

The limitation for vSphere Essentials Kit is, that you cannot have more than three esx hosts (version does not matter) and 6 cpus in one vCenter.
