Purple Screen of Death (ESXi6.0)

Hello,

I am running a 6 servers cluster (Intel S2600WTT + Intel Ethernet Controllers: 10 Gigabit X540-AT2 and X710 for 10GbE SFP+) with VMware vSphere 6.0 Build 3620759 and recently I had a purple screen. Can you help me knowing what would be the 'cause? I need to understand where I can start looking.

Thank you in advance!

The right combination is Firmware 6.01 + Driver 1.5.8.

Works during more one month without any issues.

Hello,

To resolve this issue update to the Native mode driver for X710 and XL710 products, available at VMware Downloads.

Intel recommends upgrading to the Native mode driver and no longer use the VMKLinux API based i40e driver.

upgrade to i40e driver Version 1.4.28

Below mentioned is the KB for your reference, Same KB can also be referred for 6.x

VMware Knowledge Base

Update firmware and then the drivers.

Nope.. 😕

After one week of upgrade hosts to ESXi 6.5U1 and i40e drivers to version 1.4.28 at this weekends two of our four hosts gone to PSOD.

I'm going to update to latest i40e driver version 1.5.8

(or 2.0.7 because in release notes I found this "Fix PSOD caused by small TSO segmentation" and I think this is my problem.)
