PowerCLI 6.5.1 - New-DRSHostRule

Good day,

I only have standard licensing and am trying to use the DRS functionality for HA only. I realize I do not have access to DRS due to limited licensing.

I can create Host/VM groups using the New-DrsClusterGroup cmdlet, but I cannot use the New-DrsVMHostRule to create the correlating rule. However if I go into the web interface I can create the same group.

I get the following message:

DRS is not enabled on the cluster 'Cluster'.

Which is correct, but why am I able to do it using the interface?

Thanks!

If you see the New-DrsVMHostRule syntax and parameters, you are specifying the "Cluster" in the command line which has "DrsEnabled=Boolean". So it seems, more pre-checks are happening while running the cmdlet, rather than GUI interface.

For more information, see https://pubs.vmware.com/vsphere-6-5/index.jsp#com.vmware.powercli.cmdletref.doc/New-DrsVMHostRule.ht...
