Planning to upgrade my environment with latest vmtools version 10.2.5 with VM hardware version 11. Which one to be installed / upgraded first vmtools or vm hardware?

Planning to upgrade my environment with latest vmtools version 10.2.5 or 10.2.0 with VM hardware version 11 on ESXi OS version 6.0. Which one to be installed / upgraded first - vmtools or vm hardware?

My question is - first install vmtools version, reboot the server and install / upgrade vm hardware version? or install / upgrade the vm hardware version first, reboot the server and install vm tools version? do I need to follow any specific order here. If yes, what is the reason behind??

1. Upgrade VMware Tools.
2. Upgrade VM hardware version

On Microsoft Windows virtual machines, if you upgrade the virtual hardware before you upgrade VMware Tools, the virtual machine might lose its network settings.
