PSOD with LSI 9341-8i

Hello All,

I've been trying to install ESXI 6.7u1 (Driver Rollup) on my Home Lab.

Motherboard: Gigabyte 7PESH2

CPU: 2x Xeon E5-2380

RAM: 128GB (16GBX8)

Storage: 8x8TB HDD, attached to LSI2008 in IT mode

Storage: 2x400GB SATA SSD attached to LSI 9341-8i Raid Card, will setup in Raid-1 for

My issue: Every time I connect my LSI 9341-8i Raid Card, I get a PSOD when ESXI tries to load from the USB boot drive. When I remove the 9341-8i from the PCI slot, everything is fine and ESXI boots normally.

9341-8i Firmware Flashed to version 4.680.01-8293

ESXI Drivers tested: 7.705.09.00-1OEM & 7.707.11.00-1OEM

Attached is the PSOD i'm getting.

help please!

Hi,

check if there's a newer version of BIOS firmware and update it on motherboard. Are You sure this RAID controller is not broken and works correctly? Could You check it on other server?

Regards
Radek

vmrale I just upgraded my Gigabyte 7Pesh2 Drivers to the latest version available on their website. Same PSOD on boot =(

I've noticed when I uninstalled the ls_mr3 Vib from ESXI, It boots fine with the LSI 9341-8i physically installed. But once I install the latest lsi_mr3 VIB that is stated compatible on the Vmware website, then reboot, i always get a PSOD.

I currently do not have another server available to test it on. At my home, I have only Mac Mini's and MacBooks, and a SFF Gaming PC that does not have enough space for another PCI card.[

[EDIT]:

To add, I just bought this 9341-8i brand new within the past month... I would hope there's nothing wrong with it, but it's always a possibility =(

Please check if you have correct driver and firmware for this controller.
