I just virtualized one of our physical XP machines on site. After virtualizing, installed VMWare Tools 10.0.12, assuming this would fix my issues. It allowed mouse functionality, however, no NICs are installed.
Checking Device Manager show a "Yellow ?". Removing and readding the NIC in vSphere doesn't affect nor does scanning for hardware changes.
Any suggestions?
By default XP machine should have intel driver which supports E1000, however you may try using VMXNET3 type of card so that the driver comes with vmware tools and check if that works for you.

Welcome to the Community,
which type/model of virtual network adapter did you add to the VM?
André
Thank you,
It is an E1000

I didn't even realize that there was different kinds of NICs in vSphere. both VMXNET3 and VMXNET2 worked. Is there one that I should use over the other?
you may use vmxnet3 has advanced feature than vmxnet2
following article will give you some insights on different types of adapter and their features
Thank you. Ill check it out
