No Alerts Received from vCenter

All,

One of our hosts generated multiple critical events, one of them is "Alarm 'Host error' on x.x.x.x triggered by event 1929239 'Issue detected on x.x.x.x in DataCenter: hostd performance has degraded due to high system latency (2022-08-23T20:21:44.314Z cpu47:2100918)".  However we did not receive any notifications in email.  Our mail server is smtp.mailgun.org on port 25. We receive notification emails from Skyline Health Diagnostics, SQL agents, Solarwinds (they all use mailgun as well), etc. but nothing from vCenter.  In vCenter we can only input the info for mail server, logon ID, password, port number but there is no way to test.

Do you know how to test email notification in vCenter?

Thanks,

Did you configure that specific alarm?  We test always with "Datastore Disk usage" and set it down to 1% to trigger an alarm.  In older vCenter versions we see that the sender was puzzled together like    vcsa@root.company.local which doesnt accept by our smtp server. There are some KB around how for fix that in the sendmail.cfg.

Didnt see that kind of problem in recent 7.x versions of the VCSA.

Joerg

It has been solved.  It was a synch issue with Office 365 and on-premise AD.  We are able to receive email notifications now.

Thanks guys for your input.
