  • 1.  Moving from free license to essential

    I have two stand alone vSphere hypervisor 7 servers with the free license.

    They show "ESXi-7.0U2a-17867351-standard" as their image in the web GUI.

    If I buy Essentials kit, do I have to reinstall them with the essentials kit's media or is the new license code enough to enable the new features?

    No need to reinstall the ESXi-servers.

    Hello.
    the essentials kit includes 6 VMware vSphere licenses for 3 hosts of 2 CPUs each and a vCenter Essentials Server license.

    When you register your licenses with VMware you will have access to download the media, it is recommended to use your business email to register with VMware with your company details (if the licenses are from your company).

    You can enter and assign the licenses online, no need to reinstall or reboot the computers.
