Both hosts are standalone version 7. Can I move with the machine having a few snapshots?
I plan to shutdown, copy all the files from the VM and upload to the new host, then register it.

Instead of snapshots using any 3rd Party backup tool. They would do wonders in your case. I do not know if vCenter is required. But if vCenter is required, just installed vCenter (60 days trail) and proceed with migration.
