Missing Update Manager Extension in HTML5 client

Hi there,

We have installed the Update Manager server for Windows, using the latest (Aug 18) ISO build.

The extension appears in the vSphere Web Client (flash/flex client), but doesn't appear in the newer HTML5 client.

I've researched and from what I can tell it should just 'appear' in both when installing.

What am I missing?

Thanks

Chris

Hi

Support is for you only VCSA 6.7.

Note: Using Update Manager functionality in the vSphere Client (HTML5-based GUI) is only supported for Update Manager that runs in the vCenter Server Appliance.

OK great thank you for confirming.

I had suspected that, but couldn't find anything official to suggest.

We do have a plan in place to move over to a VCSA soon, so will wait for that.

Thanks again.

so the thing you expect the customer to do is build a host (license cost)to run a vm to mange the hosts(each with a license cost)[even its own host? now an addition cost] and vm's

at the cost of 2k per lic of a host. interesting info is window/ linux hypervisor need no such thing from there customers. nor did the previous way vmware functioned which now costs more to use.

so this is really just to get more money because you have to lic another host just to run the appliance that then manages hosts. or maybe run the vm from the very things you trying to manage. like fixing the car while it is moving. this can be done you just remove the dashboard. just not a real good solution.

and you called this solved. I call it left broken with no hope of repair.
