Migrating hosts configured in a cluster & DRS to another vcenter instance

Our goal is to move our 5.5 hosts to another (existing) vcenter instance running 6.0. Our 5.5 hosts are configured in an HA/DRS cluster. I am not sure how to move these hosts to the other vcenter instance and hoping someone can shed some light or provide some sort of specific articles. Am i on the right track with the steps below?

  1. remove each host from the cluster in the old vc instance
  2. create new datacenter, cluster and new resource pool within the target vcenter instance
  3. connect each new host to the target vcenter instance

Any help or references would be greatly appreciated

Yes, you need to create the resource pools at the target vcenter.

Take a look at this KB for how to move a vSphere ESXi host to another vCenter:VMware Knowledge Base

And if you're using vDS, you should look here: VMware Knowledge Base
