Migrating a domain controller VM (run esxi5.5) using vmotion/storage vmotion to new server (esxi7)

Need your thoughts on this... as I recall converting a Domain Controller Machine (P2V and probably V2V) is actually not recommended/supported using Standalone Converter, I assume because of converter actually creates a new VM on the destination, which means a new "hardware". But in my case, the Domain Controller is already a VM. My plan is to make use of vMotion, is this safe for the DC?

1. upgrade esxi 5.5 to at least 6.5 so I can manage it on vcsa 7

2. Vmotion/Storage Vmotion the DC VM to the new Server and Storage.

I'm also thinking will "cold" migrate will also be safe?

Thanks

Honestly, you are better off just building a new DC on the new host and migrating the FSMO roles over.  It's so simple to do add DC's to a domain that it's almost trivial.  Then just demote the "old" one and be done, rebuild the host to ESXi 7 and move on to brighter things.
