Migrating VMDKs from SAN to NFS?

We are currently hosting our VMs on an NetApp FAS SAN box using LUNs. We are thinking about using that same equipment, but creating NFS volumes on it and migrating the VMs to the NFS volume. What would be the best way to approach this and what potential pit falls may there be?

You'd just have to present the new NAS mounts to the same ESXi hosts and do storage vMotions to them. Check to ensure you have the VAAI bundle for that NAS solution if you do (if applicable).

Thank you, is the VAAI bundle absolutely necessary?

It's not, no, but for things like space reservation it is (because NFS is naturally always thin provisioned).
