Migrate Standard Switch to Distributed Switch

Good afternoon,

Nice to greet you, I currently have a client that has a configuration of three hosts connected with a standard switcher. You want to migrate all the configuration to a distributed switch so that it is easier to manage and configure in the future.

I understand that to create a distributed switch, you must have an enterprise license at the vcenter level.

ADITIONAL I was reviewing the procedures but I still do not clear.

The creation of vDS, portgroups and uplinks should be done first, obviously before making the migration from vSS to vDS.

Regards..

What aspects should I take into account to carry out this activity? VCenter license. Version of the vCenter and Host. Compatible version of vDS that you are going to create.

If you do some searches (as I've directed) most all of this is covered. You obviously need a license that entitles you to use a vDS, of which there are a few. vDS compatibility depends on your ESXi hosts but is irrelevant to a vSS => vDS migration. As mentioned in almost all of these articles, you will need two vmnics per ESXi host to make this migration possible without downtime.
