Memory Allocation For a Virtual Machine

Hi,

Is it possible to allocate memory on a virtual machine greater than the physical memory on any of the ESXi hosts in a cluster?

Simple scenario to explain further:

If I have 2 physical ESXi server hosts with 2 TB RAM each in a vSphere Cluster (Total Memory in the cluster resource pool becomes 4 TB); can I create a VM in this cluster (on any of the two hosts) and allocate it 3 TB of memory?

3 TB is within the capacity of the total memory on the pool so technically I should be able to do this but I want to confirm if there is any dependency of memory allocation on the physical capacity of the RAM on the servers in the cluster.

No, that's not possible, because a VM running on a host can only consume that host's memory.
