We're looking at moving some "archived" data to AWS. In total this would be about 30Tb's of stuff, that currently is spread out on 8 different VMDK's mounted to a windows server. Our boss wants a 30 day report showing how much data has come in and out of each of those disks so we don't get slapped with a huge fee right from the get go. The apps that are tied to these files need to have somewhat quick access to them, and might be called up to pull an old image up. Is there a way I can pull this from vmware or vrops? The IO read / write rate seems to be close, but I don't see any option to get a break down per disk, it seems to only show capacity and % usage. I'd really like to have a report saying something like "on this day/week (whatever) xxxxmb's was read or written to". I've been hunting around for a plug in but can't seem to find much of anything. Suggestions?
