Linux - vmware tools Or API to assign network ip

Hello,

Please tell me, Is there any API Or command to assign the IP address for newly created VM - Linux OS ?

I have installed vmware tools, it seems there is an option for windows to set IP address and not for Linux.

If i am wrong, Please correct me and give me the solution to set the ip address in linux using API Or Vmware tools.

You can do this with a customization spec. Set the NIC option to prompt for an IP and provide the mask. When requesting, populate the IP and the customization spec will pass that on to your Linux VM.
