We are experiencing some issues with completing upgrade vCenter from 5.5 to 6.5. Would appreciate if someone can help us out !
Our vCenter is a 5.5 vCenter Server Appliance VM with ip address of: 192.168.10.150 and we have upgraded it using 6.5 image. During the upgrade we have set DHCP temporary ip address (192.168.10.182) and the installation completed by replacing the 192.168.10.150 ip to the new 6.5 vCenter Server Appliance and powering off the 5.5 VCSA VM. Now, we are unable to access the vSphere web client interface as the browser displays error below:
503 Service Unavailable (Failed to connect to endpoint: [N7Vmacore4Http20NamedPipeServiceSpecE:0x000055c7952442c0] _serverNamespace = /
action = Allow _pipeName =/var/run/vmware/vpxd-webserver-pipe)
Also, we can log into the VAMI (192.168.10.150:5480) but the SSO service status shows as: Not running. We can SSH to the VCSA and that showed many of the appliance services are masked. We have unmasked many of them but unable to start them as the commands not getting executed. We have rebooted the appliance number of times and have tried to start services manually. Nothing is working as of now. Please refer the images below:
This is what we get when try to login from web browsers:
Please help us out ! Thank you !
I am pretty sure you can't use dhcp, you have to use a static ip with forward and reverse dns addresses. If forward and reverse dns isn't working the appliance won't deploy correctly.
Thanks you for your reply!
We had a DNS resolvable warning given during the pre installation check. But, that allowed us to proceed to next steps. Also, we rebooted the 5.5 VCSA prior to upgrade as there was a certificate issuing error. After that, we didn't have any issues during the installation. Please refer the images taken during the upgrade process below. In any event, what would be the solution for this ? Please let us know. Thank you.
