Is Linked Mode preserved after an upgrade to 6.5?

Good afternoon

I have two 6.0 vCenters with an external Windows PSC per VC. The vCenters are in linked mode. I want to upgrade to 6.5 and also probably upgrade to VSCA's and PSC appliances. Will the Linked Mode be preserved if I upgrade the first PSC and vCenter to 6.5? Or do I need to upgrade the second and perform some other tasks to re-establish the Linked Mode again?

Regards

Darren

Hi Darren and welcome to the forums!

you must upgrade all PSCs first and then the vCenter servers. Linked mode will be fully preserved during the upgrade, no matter whether you do in-place upgrade on Windows or migration upgrades to the VCSA.

For more information on product upgrade orders with vSphere 6.5 see VMware Knowledge Base .

Thanks peetz, I thought that was probably the case, but wasn't sure how if I could do a one set of vCenter/PSC first. Got all the admin/upgrade docs and no massive mentioned of Linked Mode so assumed it would be ok but good to get confirmation! Cheers Smiley Happy
