  • 1.  Invalid special characters in PSC SSO Passwords

    Posted Mar 02, 2018 02:49 PM

I am trying to set a password for an SSO user account on a vSphere 6.5 PSC.  When I enter certain special characters, the password box turns red.  The characters I have identified so far are ` @ % ^ & < >.   Is there any VMware documentation that specifically addresses what special characters are not allowed?

I found some older KB articles talking about 5.x but nothing for 6.x that covers exclusions.

    Thanks,

    David

In vSphere 6.0 and later, non-ASCII characters are supported in passwords. There is no exception policy as such. You may have defined the vCenter Single Sign-on password policy  which is not allowing you to enter these characters. For detailed password policy requirements, see page 65, https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-vSphere/6.5/vsphere-esxi-vcenter-server-651-platform-services-controller-administration-guide.pdf
