Install VM ware tools question

Hi everyone.. Quick and silly question.. I have a mobile iron standalone sentry appliance. I am able to mount the vm ware tools installer but how do i actually install the tools on the appliance.? The reason why I want to do this is I need to run scheduled tasks on this appliance and I cannot unless vm ware tools is installed

I have my enable password turn on privileged commands, I just can't find any more info on how to install..

Be careful in installing tools on a vendor appliance. They will usually not support you doing that and it may even cause instability.

The MobileIron CLI includes a command that facilitates installation of VMware tools. Complete the following steps:

1. In the vSphere Client, right-click on the VM.
2. Select Guest | Install/Upgrade VMware Tools.
3. Enter the password when prompted.
4. Enter the following command: #install rpm cdrom
5. Select an rpm when prompted.
6. Enter the number for VMwareTools package.
7. Enter enable in the MobileIron CLI screen, at the prompt.
