Inrease datastore

Hello,
i use vCenter 6.7 with ESXi 6.0 host....
I try to increase a datastore.
The LUN in the SAN is increased.
I refresh the datastore in my webclient but i only see the old capacity.

Any idea?

Hi Dennis,

Have you tried a rescan of storage on each host? There is a known issue (that we are battling and might be limited to 6.5 vCenter) which means that a rescan doesn’t always work across the cluster leading to different and conflicting views when extending storage. Even cause us an outage to VMs due to the host running them being out of space even though the Webclient reported the datastore as being extended. The host itself had not actually rescanned the storage.

Anywho - long story short, try rescanning the storage on each host individually and see if the extra space turns up.

Kind regards.

Hello,

you have to go to datastore, actions and select increase datastore capacity then add the extended volume.

please advise,

Thanks…..i do a rescan of the storage on each ESXi host.

But that works only for a little time...….
After an hour i see the old storage size…...

Then i do a rescan on the cluster and that seems now to work……..

We've seen this issue in our environment in both 6.0 and 6.5. What we've had to do on occasion is log into a host directly and perform the the capacity increase there. After doing that, vCenter then reported the correct capacity.
